Dogs have long been known for their ability to understand human emotions and communicate in their own ways. But one TikTok user, who goes by @letsgoripley, has taken this idea to a whole new level by sharing a viral video of his 3-year-old Australian Shepherd, Ripley, using sound buttons to speak to his family. In the video, Ripley can be seen pressing the buttons with his nose and making statements—including telling his family members when it’s time for guests to leave.

The video begins with Ripley pressing a button that says, "front yard," while the onscreen text explains that his parents are playing video games with his dad's brother. It’s a seemingly innocent start, but things quickly take an interesting turn when Ripley starts pressing other buttons. After hitting "stranger" and "Ripley," the dog runs off with the "stranger" button, and his dad quickly places it back on the board. Ripley returns and presses the "walk" button, prompting his dad to respond, "No, baby, tomorrow."

As the interaction continues, it becomes clear that Ripley is trying to communicate something very specific. The mother guesses, "I think he is telling Corey to go home," and Ripley responds by pressing the "Sofia" button, followed by "yes" and "bye." The onscreen text reads, “Ripley grabs the yes button so dad models 'daddy' 'brothers' 'friends.'” What follows is even more intriguing, as Ripley continues to press buttons like “brothers” and “mommy,” to which the family corrects him by saying "daddy's brother." Ripley quickly understands, proving that he's not only capable of understanding human language but can also adapt to new information.

As the video wraps up, Ripley presses "walk" again and chews out the "want" button before pressing "bye." The dog’s behavior suggests that he's not only aware of the social dynamics around him but also knows how to express his wants and frustrations. The footage quickly captured the internet's attention, leaving viewers amazed by Ripley's ability to convey his desires.

The amusing clip has garnered more than 408.1K views since being posted online. TikTok users can't seem to get enough of the adorable pup and his interaction with his family, and they made sure to leave some witty comments. @random_person9090 joked, "Why give the dog buttons if y'all aren’t gonna listen to the dog?" @therookielover__ wrote, "I'd be terrified not gonna lie. He's like trying to tell there's a stranger inside the house or something."

@n.b.l.a_ quipped, "Dogs are so territorial and introverted." Many other clips of Ripley have also gained popularity on social media. In another clip that went viral with 5.1 million views, Ripley can be seen joking around with his owners. He presses buttons that say, "Humans, smell, inside water," which the mom instantly understands and looks appalled. "He's telling us to take a shower!" One TikTok user had an equally amusing response to the incident. @dreashaffer commented on the clip, "To think that you teach your dog to speak, and then he uses this power to absolutely roast you."
