A groom had planned the perfect wedding surprise for the bride—a squeaky duck toy wrapped as a gift. While it was certainly an amusing moment for her and the guests, the surprise quickly took an unexpected turn when someone special walked into the hall. Stephen Watt knew his soon-to-be wife well enough to plan for the one thing that would leave her spellbound and make their wedding day memorable. He and his accomplices had schemed the surprise for months. Safe to say, it was a complete success.

On their wedding reception in Luss, Scotland, bride Keriann Watt unwrapped a small present from the groom. It was a duck dog toy, meant to distract her from the real present. Keriann was confused by the cute but irrelevant gift until a person walked in with a Pug. Everything fell into place. The dog breeder was holding a little Pug puppy, which was easily the best gift for the bride. “To give Keri her perfect wedding day meant that there had to be a Pug. There was no way I could let that pass,” Stephen told ABC News.

Keriann was a die-hard lover of Pugs, but never had the opportunity to get one, somehow. Stephen figured there would be no better time than their wedding. Therefore, he teamed up with his best man, the usher, and the wedding videographer to pull off a “military operation” they had planned for five months. “When I saw the Pug, I couldn't quite believe it. I was overcome with emotion and a little overwhelmed,” the bride said, initially thinking it was a joke. She broke down in tears while the guests erupted in cheers and applause. Keriann’s dream had finally come true.

John Paul Lusk, the wedding videographer and a close friend, said, “You can tell from the way the guests cheered just how much we all knew this meant to Keri. It really was a big thing for her.” Everyone at the wedding was aware of how much Keriann adored Pugs. She described her home as a haven for Pugs, full of quirky things that resonated with her love for the dog breed. “My obsession with Pugs started easily 10 years ago. Due to my love for Pugs, over the years, friends have indulged me with pictures, cushions, soft toys, salt shakers, etc., and when people came to our home, they couldn't believe that we didn't have a real one,” she explained.

Finally, Keriann owned an adorable little pet that symbolized the couple’s love and marriage. “I can't quite believe that I have my own real one now and no longer have to stalk poor Pug walkers in the parks.” The couple headed to New York for their honeymoon and went back to the UK soon after. They drove to the breeder’s house to pick up their “new little addition” to the family. “[The dog] will be on U.K. time, whereas we will be playing catch-up so I hope she is patient with us at first as we try to get her settled into her new surroundings,” said Stephen, excited for the new beginnings.
