A woman was caring for a dog that once belonged to her late boyfriend when she realized a gut-wrenching reality. Jodie Priddey, who goes by @jodiepriddey on TikTok, got candid about the tough time the dog, Ted, a Chihuahua, had endured following the death of his beloved owner, Jack Jordan. The pup cried in his sleep, missing Jordan every night. Two years passed, and Ted was still deep in grief for his late owner until Priddey unknowingly comforted him with the best memory of his favorite human. The emotional clip with 1 million views struck a chord with many fellow pet owners and flooded the post with notes of support.

Priddey showed the sweet pup enjoying the sunlight spilling through the window while she explained how badly Ted had been hurting since the loss. The woman still had her late boyfriend’s gown that smelled like him hanging on the back of her door. One night, when she took it out to wear it and later placed it near her bed, Ted came springing onto it and bathed himself in his owner’s smell. In an interview with Newsweek, Priddey shared that the Chihuahua had previously struggled to sleep while coping with the loss. He would wake up having nightmares and cry every night. "But this night, that he had been cuddling up in Jack's dressing gown smelling him, he had slept right through without a nightmare,” she recalled.

Moreover, the woman noticed a heartbreaking gesture by the dog. She walked over to Ted to kiss him while he snuggled into Jordan’s gown and found him weeping. “He was sighing and deep breathing, and shaking a little bit. I felt all these emotions coming off him." Priddey went back to her bed, fighting back tears, but the dog was not leaving her alone. He ran to her to cuddle with her for a moment before returning to the gown. He slept there the entire night, which made Priddey realize that Ted was also grieving like her. In August 2023, Jordan had passed away in a tragic road accident, and his family had been mourning ever since, including Ted. The dog was his best friend, to whom he confided in choosing his partners.

When Priddey and Jordan began dating, he explained that they could not make it official until Ted gave his approval and bonded with her. "If Ted didn't like me, it was game over," she revealed. The duo has been inseparable since Jordan’s passing, finding comfort in grieving together. Now, the dog sleeps soundly in his late master’s gown every night. The post collected 70,900 likes and heartwarming reactions from viewers. “Your boyfriend looks like he was a lovely guy. The worst thing with dogs is we can’t explain to them what’s happened,” penned @justinebaumann58 and @callmerachh shared, “My boyfriend passed away five weeks ago, and I can tell our dog is grieving him too and always waiting for him to come back.”
