Four friends were disappointed after moving into a ‘no-pet’ apartment — until a neighbor’s dog changed everything with one letter
Four flatmates from Bristol, England, were left disappointed when their landlord mentioned in their contract that they were not allowed to get a dog. However, when they noticed a four-legged canine wagging its tail at a neighbor's house, they made a plan to incorporate the pup into their lives. They decided to reach out to the neighbor via a friendly letter. But an unexpected reply from the dog melted their hearts.
As reported by The Mirror on Saturday, December 13, 2025, four Bristol engineers moved to a new rented house, but were disheartened when their house rent contract had a "no pets" clause. However, determined to have some canine companionship in their lives, they never gave up the idea. Until one day, they noticed their neighbor's Sheprador across the street staring curiously at their house, seemingly wanting to make friends with the new lads. The boys decided to pen a letter to the neighbor, asking them if they could walk or take care of their canine if they ever needed help. The letter read, "We are four engineers who have recently moved into the area. The other day, we noticed a four-legged friend looking at us out the window." The letter continued, "If you ever need someone to walk him/her, we will gladly do so. If you ever get bored (we know you never will, but we can dream), we are more than happy to look after him/her."
The group also shared how much they missed having a dog and wrote, "Adult life is a struggle without one. Yours sincerely, The boys from number 23." While they expected a reply from the neighbor, the last thing they anticipated was a response from the dog herself! The next day, the boys opened their door to an adorable response letter that read, "Dearest Boys, what a treat it was to receive your letter! I am two years and four months old. I come from Cyprus originally, but Chris and Sarah rescued me from a cage in the 'doggy hotel'!" The dog introduced herself as Stevie Ticks and wrote, "You're right that I am the bestest girl, how did you know? I am very friendly and full of beans. I love meeting new people, and it would be great if we could be friends. I'd love to hang out whenever you fancy. Give my servant Chris a WhatsApp, and we can arrange a meet-up. Lots of love (and licks), Stevie Ticks."
The letter also came with an adorable paw print, proving that the letter was indeed approved and signed by the four-legged pup! Delighted by the response, one of the boys shared the exchange on social media, writing, "The response was better than we could have ever hoped for." Stevie (@stevieticks), who is already a popular star on Instagram, posed with the four boys as she looked excited to meet them for the first time. While the friendly interaction happened a couple of years ago and the boys have since moved out of that residence, Stevie's letter trends to this date on social media!
