Her dog died in her arms after a vet refused treatment without a ‘7-minute’ test first — now, the tragedy has torn pet lovers apart
A woman had a devastating experience after she watched her dying pet dog take her last breath in her lap while the vet refused to see her. She called out the shocking response of the expert, insisting the dog undergo a 7-minute test first, without considering the emergency that claimed the pet’s life. The dog owner, who goes by @xoxo._.hailey17 on TikTok, demanded accountability from the vet after losing her canine companion to a life-threatening crisis.
“What’s your favorite horror movie?” hinted an overlay text on the viral clip with 8.4 million views. The woman’s answer was not a hit horror movie but the nightmare that unfolded at a vet clinic where her dog died. She revealed that her pup was exposed to a common household cleaning chemical and showed signs of poisoning. When she rushed her to the nearest vet clinic, the doctor did not check her until the parvo test was done. “When my dog was dying from Fabuloso and the vet refused to see her without a parvo test and me screaming at them, she was dying, and they just walked away,” the dog owner stated.
The vet reportedly returned to hand the dog owner the parvo test results after her dog died in her lap. They “had the audacity to come back and say, ‘So her parvo test came back negative.’" The woman warned pet owners against using Fabuloso in their homes, noting the lethal nature of the chemical exposure. She also bashed the unnamed vet for their sinister act. The post received nearly 700,000 hearts and several messages of support to comfort the grieving dog owner. “Veterinarians have lost their empathy,” said @4olddogs and @laurbear95 suggested, “Sue for emotional damages. I bet they still billed you. They could have still been doing other things while waiting.”
A person who claimed to work in veterinary ED said, “Absolutely not. You gown up and use the isolation room if you need to, but you don’t withhold stabilization. Honey, I am so incredibly sorry,” empathized @pixiedustandmainstreet. Similarly, @meliplier noted, “A true veterinarian would do whatever it takes to save an animal.” On a different note, @an.unsent.letter explained, “That’s just how it is. Parvo can wipe out a community. You should go after Fabuloso for not making it clear that their products are toxic to pets.” While the debate broke out in the comments, a vet expert, Dr. Carly Fox, confirmed to Newsweek that vets do hold the right to refuse to see a patient. This is especially done when the patient does not have an appointment or an established doctor/patient relationship.

The parvo test is used to detect the canine parvovirus (CPV) antigen, which is highly contagious and potentially fatal to dogs, per Vetlab Supplies. Hence, the vet stresses the test before starting treatment. However, a better alternative could have been found that could have saved the late dog’s life and the owner’s pain of grief.
