Husband left heartfelt final words for his soul dog before passing away from cancer — a goodbye his wife is now sharing

Lorelai shared the heartfelt video as a tribute to both her late husband and their German Shepherd, Gunnar. The clips show touching moments between her husband and Gunnar, pieced together with an audio message he recorded before losing his battle to colon cancer. The onscreen text reads, “Words my husband left for his soul dog before he passed away from cancer.” The recording begins with a familiar greeting, “Hey, good boy, how’s my good boy doing?” His voice is soft, filled with love and gratitude. “I couldn’t have asked for better puppers. You taught me probably more than I taught you, buddy,” he continues, speaking directly to Gunnar as if he were still right by his side.

Throughout the message, he reassures Gunnar that Lorelai, referred to as “mama”, will take good care of him and spoil him with treats. He thanks the dog for his loyalty and love, saying, “By far the best dog I have ever had. You will always be my good boy.” His words reflect the deep connection they built over countless days. He ends the message with a request, “Look out for your family, look out for your brother and your mother, protect them. Protect them, that is one of the reasons that we picked you, one of many reasons, but I have no doubt that you will put yourself in front of anything that comes between them and you.” His trust in Gunnar is clear, believing that the dog would continue to be a guardian even after his own time ended.
