Man left a 2-star review slamming a pet-friendly restaurant for allowing dogs inside — the owner’s brutal response won the Internet
With many establishments becoming pet-friendly, pet owners enjoy taking their pets on family trips. However, not everyone welcomes the idea. When one person left a bad review, complaining about the restaurant permitting pets indoors, the restaurant owner did not hold back to give an apt response. Posted by @soycamarero on June 13, 2023, on X (formerly Twitter), the exchange earned the owner widespread praise online.
A bar in Valladolid, Spain, received a 2-star review from a customer for a bizarre reason. Posting on Google Reviews, the customer criticized the restaurant for allowing pets inside. The review read, "It's disgusting that they let dogs come into the place. They should have warned us beforehand." According to Wamiz, after the review caught the attention of the owner, he decided to share his thoughts on the review. The owner's response read, "Good afternoon, Javier. We have always welcomed dogs in our establishments and will continue to do so. Their presence is far more enjoyable than that of people such as yourself; it's your comment that's disgusting. Thank you."
A 2024 study published in the International Journal of Hospitality Management explored how dog owners perceive value when dining with their pets at pet-friendly restaurants. The study offered practical suggestions to professionals in the food service industry to customize their offerings to meet the preferences of dog owners. It also addressed health and safety considerations related to having pets near dining areas. To balance these concerns, both regulatory authorities and the food industry have introduced measures that accommodate customers with and without pets. In Colorado, for instance, restaurants are required by law to display signs indicating that dogs are welcome and to provide a separate patio entrance for those dining with them.
The post received strong support from users who admired the owner’s firm stand in support of pets. @antifascista967 wrote, "There's a formula that never fails: if you go and see dogs and you don't like it, well you leave; if you like them, well you stay." @7es_lola sided with the restaurant and penned, "I've been in bars where two kids have ruined the stay for a bunch of people. I've been in a bar, at a dog meetup, where there were almost as many dogs as people (some of us had two), and not a single bark or any bother. Most of us train our dogs well." @Claujisancho commented, "Wrong complaint. When you enter a business (bar, café), you accept the rules that are there, whether you know them or not; if you stay, you imply that you accept the conditions. I imagine the dog was already there when the gentleman was consuming; he saw it and stayed because he wanted to. It must be because of the bars!"
