An adorable curly-haired pup has narrowed down the distinctions between dog and human. Max, a five-year-old mixed breed, has set the internet ablaze with his extraordinary features resembling a human face, drawing comparisons with look-alike celebrities. The internet-famous dog turned heads with his pouty face in a viral video posted on his TikTok page, @max.hawt.dawg, amassing 14.9 million views. The pet owner seemed concerned by her dog’s behavior and zeroed in on his human expressions that left an unsettling impression on people.

“Max, what’s wrong, bud?” the owner, who is also a mom of two, asked in the viral clip. The dog appeared to be sulking on the couch and lifted his head upon her persuasion. Lo and behold, a strangely human-like dog face looked up at her as the owner asked Max if he was okay. Retaining his somber expression and shimmering eyes, the brown pup barely responded to her verbal cues, showing his human side. The post was liked by 1.4 million people on the internet, sparking intrigue and amazement. “Max didn’t even come upstairs to go to bed tonight, and now I’m worried. I swear he looked like he was gonna cry? Is it just me? He is seriously pouting right now,” the caption hinted.

However, Max’s pouty face was something he could not help, the pet owner later clarified. "The real reason he is pouting is not because he's really depressed—my kids had been playing with him all day, and there was some leftover Chipotle from dinner, and he wanted it," the pet owner told Newsweek in an interview. She confirmed that Max was, in fact, a happy dog despite his constant melancholic energy. Max, who hails from Alabama, is a rescue dog and a mix of 10 different breeds. This may have indirectly contributed to his extraordinary appearance, which was likened to Hollywood actor and comedian Will Ferrell.

In the comments, several viewers chimed in with hilarious reactions and comparisons with Max’s human counterparts. “Max is really Will Ferrell,” said @here4dasmiles. Similarly, @jmemarie1187 joked, “Why is Will Ferrell in your living room?” “Your dog looks like Will Ferrell,” pointed out another internet user (@emy06p). Additionally, some viewers hinted at human problems that may have been causing his distress. “Why does he look like he has a mortgage, car payment, three kids, and he’s done with life,” penned @user4119574806608. “Max is tired of having to pretend he can’t speak,” stated @__lifeofriley92.

Keeping the hilarious opinions aside, Max’s pet owner was exhilarated that her dog was brightening up people’s lives. “I started this TikTok as a way to help my own postpartum issues, especially the difficulties of caring for two babies under 2 years old," she told the outlet. Hoping to make a few smile and finding joy in others’ happiness, the mom of two regularly shared candid clips of Max. She could not believe the huge traction her pet videos had received and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to add a little joy to the world.
