New mom’s dog kept tugging her leash at the same spot during walk — and led her straight to her husband’s secret he’d been hiding for months

A British new mom discovered that her dog had been quietly revealing a secret her husband had been keeping for months. What started as a simple daily walk with their Basset Hound soon turned into an unexpected revelation, showing that sometimes pets notice more than we do. Over several days, the dog began acting unusually at the same spot on their route. Each walk seemed to hint that something was being hidden right under the family’s nose.

As reported by The Mirror, Dani, a 29-year-old midwife, began taking her dog Shiloh out for daily walks while on maternity leave with her baby, Aubrey. Dani noticed the three-year-old Basset Hound kept tugging her leash at the same spot during their strolls. “At first I thought she must have seen a cat or something, but after a few days of her stopping at the same point, I realized,” Dani explained. It didn’t take long for her to see the pattern; Shiloh was leading her straight to the local pub. Her husband, Marc, 36, had been sneaking into The Heathfield Inn in Exeter for a “swift Guinness” during his walks with the dog.

Shiloh, it turned out, enjoyed the trips just as much as Marc. The dog was fussed over by pub regulars and given treats, making the visits a little ritual of their own. Dani said she found the whole situation amusing. “I joked with my husband when I got home that he’s been caught out, the dog’s dobbed him in. He instantly knew what I was talking about and burst out laughing,” she shared with the outlet. Marc admitted that on particularly tough workdays, he would take Shiloh for a walk and stop by the pub.

Despite the cheeky discovery, Dani emphasized that she was not upset. She explained that as long as Shiloh got her walks and Marc helped with bath time, she didn’t mind the occasional detour. “Marc probably takes her out four times a week, and he doesn’t go to the pub every time,” she said. Many people resonated with her story, sharing similar experiences of their pets leading them to unexpected places.

Shiloh has now earned a new nickname among locals, the “Pint-Sized Snitch.” Dani’s TikTok video, posted in October 2025, under the handle @midwife.to.mama, quickly went viral, amassing over 116,300 views and delighting viewers with the amusing story.
