Pregnant woman couldn’t understand why her dogs suddenly kept clinging to her belly — three days later, the reason became clear

Pets often have a special connection with their owners, and many believe animals can sense changes in their environment or in the people they love. Abby Konold, a new mom, shared an intriguing story on TikTok that caught the attention of many viewers. In a video posted on her account, @abigailtess_esthetics, Abby explained how her dogs, Bear and Chief, started acting in ways that left her questioning whether they knew something was about to happen before she did. She noticed her two pet canines acting overly protective and clingy, but wasn't sure of the reason, until some good news arrived a few days later.

Abby begins her story by describing her two dogs, Bear, then almost three, and Chief, then almost one. Bear, who had been the only dog in the house for a while, began showing signs of unusual behavior when Abby got pregnant. "When I first found out I was pregnant, Bear didn’t seem to notice any difference until about a month in," Abby said. At that point, Bear became incredibly clingy, wanting to be by her side at all times—even lying on her lap. What surprised Abby most was the sudden change in Bear's temperament. He became more aggressive with other dogs when they were out together. "Bear is a very kind, gentle soul, so him being aggressive was really weird," she explained.

As the months passed, Abby’s pregnancy progressed, and she started to notice even more odd behaviors. Three days before she went into labor, Bear and Chief began lying [sic] their heads on Abby’s belly and would not leave her side. "I was thinking I would probably go past my due date since it is my first baby," she said. "I guess Bear and Chief knew I was gonna go into labor early, and I remember messaging my family a lot, being like, 'Hey, they won’t leave me alone.'" To Abby’s surprise, her family agreed with her observation. "Wow, they must know the baby’s coming," they told her. Abby found it strange, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that her dogs somehow sensed she was about to give birth early. Abby was actually due on September 4, 2024, but she ended up giving birth on August 30th, five days earlier than expected.

When the baby finally arrived, Bear seemed calm, as though he already knew what to expect. Abby remarked, "Now that the baby is here, Bear has tamed down a lot. He’s not nearly as clingy, and I think he wasn’t surprised when we brought the baby home." On the other hand, Chief appeared confused by the new addition to the family. Abby found it fascinating how her dogs could sense something like that, especially when she hadn’t expected to go into labor so soon. "I just think it’s so crazy that dogs can sense something like that, especially in their human owners," she said. Naturally, the adorable story went viral with many users sharing their experiences in the comment section. @theviridianarchive wrote, "My cats were so cuddly near my tummy during my pregnancy, but never before. It’s so cute how they know!"
