Rescuers refused to give up on a brain-injured puppy the vet wanted to euthanize — two weeks of fighting to save him ended in an unbelievable moment

When rescuers found a gravely injured puppy hit by a car, they had little hope of him surviving. The vet later declared that he suffered severe brain damage, and euthanasia was the only option left. The rescuers were not convinced and decided to help him fight for his life for weeks, until an unexpected moment changed everything. The rescuers documented the extraordinary journey of the pup named Stormy, who rose from the brink of death to a life full of sunshine on their TikTok page, Happy Doggo (@happydoggoniall).  

In a viral snippet with 2.5 million views, Stormy fought for his life, trying to stand on his feet following the devastating accident that had left him impaired forever. “He was hit by a car, they said the kindest thing was to let him go,” an overlay note on the clip revealed. Two weeks ago, the pup was almost put to sleep forever after the vet said Stormy could never support his own head or even walk due to the brain damage. While the rescuers were aware of his critical situation, they believed Stormy would get better. “We saw something in his eyes…” they shared. The twinkle in his eye showed his passion for a good life, and the rescuers got to work. 

As the rescuers supported him, the pup kept tumbling down without their help. They did not give up, nor did Stormy. They tried every day without high expectations. One fine day, Stormy took his first wobbly step to everyone’s delight. He was now balancing himself better than before, and before they knew it, his persistence shone through all the odds. “Now, he’s running. A little wobbly, but running!” an overlay text stated while footage of the puppy running on an open field lit up the internet. The once-injured puppy who would never walk again was now running free in a miraculous recovery. He still has a “long road” ahead, but the Happy Doggo team has entrusted their faith in the “little miracle” who is headed for a big and happy life.   

Only a week ago, the rescue team had celebrated Stormy standing on his feet and showing immense progress. “What a little fighter he is,” another post dedicated to his recovery stated. The rescue team did not expect his wholesome reaction, as Stormy wagged his tail and licked the rescuer to express his love. However, this would not have been possible without ample rest for his brain injury and a week of training and rehabilitation. Another update shared earlier in his recovery captured Stormy slowly appreciating the simple joys, like smelling a flower or sporting his new bandana, gifted to him as a reward for his courage and dignity.

Stormy’s steps may still be slow and cautious, but each one is a leap in his journey to recovery. “The bandana present might seem small, but it’s now part of his identity. Along with his name, his recovery and the love he is getting, it is part of having his dignity back,” the caption read. It’s only upwards from here.
