Service dog frantically signals to parents to act fast as daughter's blood sugar drops

An astonishing video of an alert dog freaking out left a couple confused, as initially, they couldn't understand his strange behavior. However, minutes later, they realized that in that very moment, the loyal pup actually saved their type 1 diabetic daughter from a fatal medical emergency. The unbelievable video shared on @theboggs_family's official TikTok page captured the exact moment Spy, the assistance dog, recognized a sudden drop in their daughter's blood-sugar level before anybody else, even her continuous glucose monitor (CGM), could notice.

While the couple was in their room, completely unaware of the danger approaching, Spy kept on nudging them, desperately trying to convey that something was wrong. "All right," the man said as he looked at his phone, and what he saw made him completely speechless. The remote monitoring app on his phone revealed that their daughter's blood sugar level was dropping quickly, and Spy was basically trying to alert them about the lethal situation. The couple immediately rushed to the other room where their daughter was, and Spy, too, followed them like a true guardian. "You feel low?" the woman asked, and surprisingly, her daughter said "yes," while giving Spy a treat for her preventive action.
"Our daughter's diabetic alert dog beats her Dexcom every time! (Her continuous glucose monitor) Good girl, Spy!" they wrote in the caption. As per a report, researchers from the University of Bristol assessed 27 dogs who were trained to alert their humans in case of abnormality in blood sugar levels. Interestingly, they found that they detected 83% of hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) and 64% of hyperglycemic (high blood sugar) episodes. Besides, 4 of the 27 dogs examined in the study were able to detect 100% of those episodes. So, if you or anyone you know suffers from Type 1 diabetes, then getting a service dog can be an excellent choice to avoid deadly situations.
Meanwhile, when the woman shared the incredible incident online, the heartwarming video received an overwhelming response on social media. Echoing the sentiments, @bobbiebranstetter commented, "Spy is amazing! My daughter just got diagnosed as hypoglycemic. It is extremely scary. Her whole life, she has woken up between 2 and 4, and we never knew why. She is 10 now." A user, @vickimoore_3, wrote, "I swear, I see tons of T1D alert dogs, and my mind is blown every alert I see. 30 years being a diabetic, and the idea of this is still crazy!"

Similarly, another user, @respiratorycrystal,shared, "Animals are amazing… But service animals like this deserve a special place in the world. What a good dog!" A person who goes by @janine on TikTok revealed, "Type 1 since childhood, 53 now. Pump & Dexcom user. I know that feeling of low. Ugh. Your daughter is beautiful & your dog is amazing." Someone else, @m_swimz, said, "I’ve always thought this was the coolest thing. Animals are awesome and so cool. We figured out a way to use it to help people." On the other hand, @leannevanderputten commented, "It must be easier for you all to sleep at night knowing Spy is there for you all; there are not enough words to describe how amazing dogs are."
