Stray dog desperately leads rescuers to a collapsed house –  they weren’t prepared for what was hiding beneath the rubble

A dog mother’s cries rippled far and wide and summoned animal welfare groups to a neighborhood where a house had collapsed. Animal Aid Unlimited in India (@AnimalAidUnlimited), an animal welfare organization, shared a touching story on YouTube, depicting true compassion that led to a successful rescue of stranded puppies and the mother’s relief. A group of animal rescuers headed to a rubble site after they received a call about a dog mother crying out for help in a locality in India. While the video evoked difficult emotions as viewers witnessed the plight of a distressed mother, the internet was relieved by the happy ending. 

The rescue was filmed and showed a member of Animal Aid walking to the site where the dog mother was trying to dig through the rubble. The video revealed that her babies were “buried beneath the rubble” of the house that had collapsed, and she could not get to them without help from humans. The worried mom was elated to meet the rescuers and looked at them with hope in her eyes. Soon, the rescue began. The charity member removed blocks of stone and mud from a particular spot indicated by the dog. However, the rescuers were not confident whether the puppies had survived under the massive debris of concrete and mud. 

They kept trying until they found the puppies, with hope in their hearts that the delicate beings were well and alive. “But their Mama must have been able to hear them or sense that they were still alive, and she was determined to tell us so,” the post’s caption shared. The rescuers never once felt clueless about where to search for the babies, as the dog mother constantly guided them with her acute hearing sensitivity. She also helped with the digging, biting off stones, and frantically digging through the debris. Oftentimes, the poor mother ended up being a hindrance to the rescue efforts as she refused to just stand by and watch from afar while humans did the work. 

Eventually, the rescuer gave in and let the dog mother find her way to the babies. They successfully found the babies, hearing their cries emanating from a space underneath. “Now, we knew that her babies were alive, just as their mama had told us,” an overlay text on the video stated. The mother was overjoyed as the Animal Aid member recovered the very first puppy from the rubble, and a second followed. The dog waited patiently as the rescuers searched for more of them, weeping with cries of relief and gratitude for her human comrades. The rescue was not yet complete without offering the family a new home for safety. The rescue team led the dog and her puppies to a safe space nearby and threw in a couple of towels for their comfort. 

The video amassed a whopping 44 million views and 1 million hearts from strangers across the world. “You'll never forget this incredible portrait of a blissful rescue and a mother's unstoppable love,” the caption stated. Simultaneously, people were moved by the mother’s perseverance and the rescue team’s contributions to reuniting a scattered family. “This shows the deep connection between humans and dogs that has formed over the years. She trusted the humans to help her, and she wasn’t nasty towards them at all,” said @turbocharged9906 and @exflygirl22 noted, “There’s a special place in Heaven for people who rescue innocent animals.” “The strongest warrior in this world is a mother,” marked @yashsharma-mn1gb.
