As reported by Parade Pets, a new study from Trusted Housesitters highlights the top city-inspired pet names for dogs and cats. This study reveals some surprising results, including a few names you might not expect. The list is based on numerous pet names registered on the platform, showing just how creative and adventurous pet parents can be when naming their furry companions.

The Pet Name Study analyzed 100,000 pet names registered on their platform. It focused on city-inspired names for dogs and cats, revealing the most popular choices among pet owners. The findings show how these monikers can reflect personal experiences, favorite destinations, or even dreams of future travels. As well as identifying the most popular names, the study also compiled a list of the top 25, and you'll be surprised to know that names like London and Rio have lost their spot to a glamorous US city.

Topping the list of city-inspired names is Aspen, a nod to the picturesque city in Colorado, known for its stunning snowy peaks and luxurious mountain retreats. The name is perfect for adventurous pets or those with a love for the outdoors. Following closely behind are other popular city-inspired names like Rio, Phoenix, and Salem. Rio brings to mind the lively streets and beaches of Brazil, while Phoenix reminds one of the year-round sun and warm weather. Salem evokes a sense of mystery and history, making it a favorite choice for many pet owners.

Rounding out the top 25 list are numerous other intriguing names. These names carry their own unique charm, from the cosmopolitan vibe of London to the Southern charm of Dallas and Austin. Paris and Rome bring a touch of European elegance, while names like Memphis, Raleigh, Denver, and Boston hold a deep connection to American culture. From the romantic streets of Vienna to the energetic vibe of Vegas, these names are sure to inspire pet owners everywhere. Other attractive city names also include Cairo, Dublin, Orlando, Florence, Bronx, Nashville, Houston, Chicago, and Berlin.

While the study covered the most popular names inspired by the cities, another listicle discusses the overall trending pet names of this year. Among the top choices are movie-inspired names like Scooby, Marley, and Pongo. These names fit well with specific breeds, such as Scooby for playful dogs and Marley for affectionate ones. Pongo, inspired by the classic movie 101 Dalmatians, is perfect for loyal and spirited Dalmatians. Mythology-inspired names like Thor, Loki, and Artemis are also gaining popularity, fitting larger and more intelligent breeds. Thor suits strong dogs like Rottweilers, while Loki works well for clever breeds like the Siberian Husky. For dogs with a warm and caring nature, names like Mocha, Cupcake, and Whiskey stand out. Mocha is a great choice for brown-coated dogs, and Cupcake fits small, affectionate breeds.
