Woman replayed Ring footage of an Amazon package drop-off again and again after her cat went missing — and froze at what she heard
A California woman says she replayed her Ring camera footage again and again after her cat suddenly went missing, hoping she had missed something the first time. What she noticed instead left her frozen. The video captured a routine Amazon delivery at her front door, followed by something she never expected to hear or see. The incident took place at her home in Lakewood on December 11, 2025, in the evening, and the video quickly became the center of a painful search for answers.
As reported by ABC7 News on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Diane Huff-Medina shared the Ring video showing a delivery driver walking up to her porch, dropping off a package, and taking a photo. The incident occurred in the early evening around 6:15 p.m., making the delivery driver’s intentions unclear at first due to the darkness and blurry footage. However, moments later, his actions became clearer when he noticed Piper, the family’s six-year-old Siamese cat, sitting nearby and approached her. “She’s a friendly cat. She’ll come up and talk to you,” Huff-Medina told CBS News. The video shows the man petting Piper for a short time before trying to pick her up. "I thought he was just petting her for a second, but yeah... I had to rewatch it a couple of times because it is hard to see, it's dark, and he doesn't carry her very nicely. I see her little tail, and I was like, 'Oh my God.' I couldn't believe what I was seeing," the owner commented on the ordeal.
The camera footage clearly shows the cat resisting and attempting to bite as the driver struggled to hold her. “You can hear her meowing,” Huff-Medina mentioned. She explained how the sounds initially seemed normal, but then they changed to something more distressed. "This part is kind of disturbing." The driver eventually gets a hold of the feline after multiple attempts and aggressively carries it by the back of its neck before walking away. “[He] carries her off like a raccoon or something... It didn't look like he was trying to save her. I don't think,” she added.
After watching the footage closely, Huff-Medina immediately contacted Amazon and later filed a report with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “We have called multiple times, and they continue to say that this is being investigated,” she said. According to her, Amazon told the family they had identified the driver but could not disclose details, adding that the delivery was handled by a third-party company. While authorities warned the case could take weeks or longer, Huff-Medina remains focused on one thing. “Please bring her back,” she said. “That's all I want out of this. I just want my cat back for myself and for my kids.” She revealed that her three young boys are heartbroken and waiting for Piper to come home. "We want her back."
