Couple returned from honeymoon eager to hug their dog — but the horror that unfolded seconds later sent them racing to the vet

For Jordan and Joshua Dale, a long-awaited reunion with their two dogs turned into something they will never forget. The couple from Lubbock, Texas, shared a TikTok video on November 1, 2025, showing what happened when they returned from their honeymoon to greet their two dogs, Matador and Hazel. Jordan was so happy to finally see the pups after being away for eleven days. But what was supposed to be a heartwarming moment quickly turned into panic, sending them racing to the vet within minutes.

As reported by Newsweek, the couple had stayed in regular contact with their pet sitters during the trip, ever since leaving for their honeymoon on their wedding day, October 18, to ensure both dogs were doing well. But nothing could have prepared them for what happened the moment they walked through the door. Matador, their seven-year-old dog, was so thrilled to see them that things took a sudden and frightening turn. Jordan said he became “wobbly” and then “completely unconscious,” leaving both of them terrified. “I truly thought our baby had just died right in front of us,” she shared with the outlet. Joshua kept his hand on Matador’s chest to feel his heartbeat while Jordan called the emergency vet, praying their dog would be okay.

After about thirty seconds that felt much longer, Matador slowly gained his senses, appearing “a little confused” but otherwise normal. Still, the couple rushed him to the emergency vet for a full checkup. Tests, including an EKG and chest X-rays, showed no serious problems. The vet explained that Matador may have experienced a syncope episode, a brief fainting spell caused by a temporary lack of oxygen to the brain. Dr. Ann Marie Zollo, an emergency care specialist, noted that while dogs can faint from excitement, it is uncommon and can also signal heart or breathing issues. She emphasized that the key is staying calm and making sure the dog is safe until it passes. The Dales were advised to monitor Matador closely in the following weeks.

Once they knew he was fine, they reviewed the footage from their pet camera and later decided to post it online. The video posted by Jordan's account @jordandula2 quickly went viral, drawing more than 16.6 million views as well as messages from pet lovers. TikTok user @yourfavehippie joked, “Well, since you don’t love me enough to take me, I’ll just die." @maegen.cruz mentioned, "His little body literally could not contain his excitement." @eatyourveggiesxoxo shared her personal experience, "My dog faints a lot when excited or post-walks.
