A dog fighting cancer embarked on the best day of her life before beginning the daunting process of chemotherapy. The pet owner beat the odds to make sure her adorable pup, Lita, a Pit Bull, was living the dream and checking off every bucket list adventure she had been waiting to experience. The dog mom’s unconditional love for Lita inspired a campaign that offered pet parents the opportunity to accomplish every wish of their furry pal, right from hopping on a plane to watching fireworks light up the night sky.

Lita was diagnosed with terminal lymphoma and was scheduled to begin chemotherapy soon after, as reported by The Dodo (@TheDodo) on YouTube. Her mom, aware of how physically demanding the treatment would be, had the bright idea of having her dog live her best life before she was overburdened by medications and clinical tests. “She’s getting to do all of her very favorite things,” the emotional dog mom shared. She worked with Albert’s Dog Lounge, an elder dog rescue, and Czar’s Promise, an organization for elder dog events, to plan the dream day.

The duo kickstarted their bucket list adventures with a day of shopping, where Lita got to buy and enjoy everything she wanted. Then the dog mom surprised her Pit Bull with a special cup of “Puppuccino,” which Lita excitedly savored. They drove to watch fireworks, where the duo cozied up in a corner to enjoy the dazzling display in the night sky. Lita’s dream day was far from concluding as she enjoyed a quick trip to the beach while relishing unlimited treats along the way. Lita even hopped on a boat ride in the ocean, followed by a convertible car ride where she enjoyed the open air. Finally, Lita and her mom reached the final adventure on their bucket list—a plane ride.

Lita was buckled in comfortably on the backseat while the pilot cruised her across the sky. The dog mom filmed every adventure she enjoyed with her pawed pal and concluded Lita’s bucket list. Inspired by Lita’s joyful experience, Albert’s Dog Rescue and Czar’s Promise have launched a new campaign in the dog’s honor called Lita’s Wish. “Through Lita's wish, families will be given the opportunity to honor their beloved pets' bonds by fulfilling a fun and meaningful bucket list to create meaningful memories,” stated the video with 105,000 views.

People expressed their admiration for the dog owner’s efforts in the comments. “This dog definitely found worthy owners. Not everyone deserves a pet,” remarked @KyprosEc, while @normandothegreat said, “Thanks to those who made her final days full of love!” According to the Veterinary Cancer Society, 47% of dogs succumb to cancer as their primary cause of death. Animals are just as likely to develop cancer as humans, especially as they age, as reported by Fetch A Cure. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are imperative for a successful recovery.
