Husband noticed his dogs in matching scarves with a handwritten message — seconds later, his wife’s big secret was revealed

When a husband noticed matching scarves on his two dogs, he knew they were onto something. He was relaxing on the couch when one of the dogs, Maverick, walked in flaunting the new accessory on his neck. It instantly piqued the husband’s interest as he leaned in to investigate the handwritten message on it. The heartwarming moment was captured by his wife, who was the mastermind behind the plan. Soon after she assigned a task to the dogs, her big secret was out of the bag.

The video shared by The Dodo (@TheDodo) on YouTube revealed that the dogs were helping their mom with some exciting news. The note on the dog scarves read, “Big Brother in Training” and “Big Sister in Training,” hinting at her pregnancy. The wife had devised a playful way to break the news to her unsuspecting husband, watching TV in the living room. “Are we gonna surprise Dad?” she could be heard saying in the clip. As soon as Maverick entered the living room wearing his scarf, the husband inquired about the pup’s new look. “What did you put on them?” he asked.

The wife only teased him about the pregnancy announcement until he read the handwritten message. “Are you serious? For real?” he exclaimed while checking both scarves. Simultaneously, she handed him a box that probably contained her ultrasound photos, which sent him jumping and screaming with joy. “Yes!” he cheered while reaching out to Maverick for a snuggle. The wife’s brilliant plan to disguise her dogs as bearers of the pregnancy announcement struck a chord with many on the internet. The sweet moment amassed 119,317 views and a flood of thoughtful messages from delighted viewers.

@thestonedwolf3158 marked, “I can already tell he is going to make a great dad. And those pups are going to make great brothers and sisters.” @CuriousGoodsJessica noted, “How cute! Those dogs are going to be very protective of her until the baby arrives, then they will concentrate on the baby as their new ‘charge!’ Blessings to all!” Someone (@presidenttogekiss635) mused, “It’s funny cause he reacts like such a bro. Like he just got a new X-box.” “That is one happy new father right there,” penned @milowisgrosstm9290. There is no doubt that they are going to be one big happy family.
While the parents prepare for their newborn, even the dogs would understand the need for their gentleness around the baby. Alexandra Bassett, dog trainer and behaviorist at Dog Savvy LA, explained that dogs have mating and den instincts as part of their “pack drive.” This drive also makes pets protective of babies when they arrive in the family. “When there is a dog around, human babies grow up healthier, more protected, and generally happier,” said Caleb Backe, a Pet Health and Wellness Expert for Maple Holistics, according to a report by the American Kennel Club. Oftentimes, a dog will sense that a human baby is vulnerable and harmless and will behave accordingly to ensure its safety.
