Husky's tragic love story ruined by jealousy — came back on track at GF's farewell

Jealousy is a very common emotion that runs right beside love. It has the tendency to overpower the latter, and while many professionals say we should avoid the emotion, we must never undermine its ability to control our relationships. While all this is true in humans, watching jealousy's vicious play among animals is the most unpredictable thing ever. Levi, the dog, lost out on many happy days with his girlfriend, Ellie, when he got jealous of her flirting with his best friend. And now he is moving away. This tragic love story was dictated by Levi’s owner in a video published on June 16th, which got 370k plus views on his Instagram account @levithehuskyrescue.

It was love at first sight for Levi, who met Ellie three years ago on his first walk in a new town. “From that day onwards, he was obsessed. Rain, shine, or snowstorm, every walk turned into a mission to check if Ellie was in her yard, just hoping to say Hi to her. Eventually, her family noticed the lovesick husky who kept showing up, and he finally got the invite in, and before long, visiting his girlfriend became part of his daily routine,” his owner voiced in the video. Everything was going fine between them until one day Levi’s best friend, Arlo, made an entry in their romance dyad and brought in the drama that spiced up the whole story. It was shared in another video published on May 20, which garnered 200k views. 

Now it's almost impossible to prevent falling for a golden retriever. Ellie saw this very shiny new entrant in the dynamics and couldn’t help but flirt with Arlo, which got Levi very upset. He took her coquettish act to his ego and behaved very rudely with her. They met in 2023 at a fence, and in September 2024, his owner shared how Levi was upset from her behaviour and was doing unacceptable things, like wanting to pee on her and kicking the grass against her. "Girl dogs: don't date my fluff boy husky," read the text overlay of the video, which got 8.5 million views. Levi was able to ignore her for months until he saw “moving boxes were back” in their house, and it was time to move. Heartbroken, Levi requested his owner to see her for one last time.

Knowing that it would be now or never, “he didn’t hesitate, chased her like the old times, and let go of any petty husky drama he harboured against her." Studies have shown that dogs exhibit jealous behaviour when their humans get another pet. And it is very widely known that dogs can get anxious if they don’t receive attention from their loved ones. Levi’s feelings mainly sprang from this deficiency, as dogs love being in company with other dogs. So much so that a recent study by the Dog Aging Project found improvements in the health of pet dogs if they find another dog to socialise with. Plus, dogs loving another dog is not a new concept. Disney showed it in 1955 in its hit picture, Lady and the Tramp.

Viewers were content that Levi finally got to bid adieu to his long-gone girlfriend. "Omg I’ve been so invested in Levi/Ellie — glad they made up, sorry they will be parted!," shared @billie_b_dawg. "They are NOT just dogs. They are so full of love and emotions," wrote @nobonesaboutitpetcaretx. "I think the only way you’re gonna be able to fix his broken heart is you’re gonna have to name your daughter Ellie," suggested another user, @starlynn_84. "Oh no, not the end of the love story of Ellie and Levi! Plus, Levi was supposed to show Ellie that he is now a big brother and has responsibilities raising Smuckers, right?" said @esgoldbe.
