Only a mother can truly understand another, even in feline societies. A mama cat gave birth to her kitties, but a fellow mama who gave birth only weeks ago could not wait to share the same household. Aysha Clever, who goes by @ayshaclever on TikTok, filmed her cat Cheeto stealing the newborn babies of her roommate’s cat, Mellow, and could not help sharing the heartwarming moment with the internet. Mellow had just given birth to a litter of three kittens after a long night of labor. A few moments later, the pet owners noticed Cheeto taking the babies away from Mellow’s litter to her own in another room. Initially, Clever could not understand and felt nervous about her cat’s antics, but soon realized her true intentions.

“I was nervous at first, but I knew she was trying to be careful, and Mellow didn’t seem to mind,” she wrote in an overlay text on the clip with 24 million views. Cheeto tried her best to safely carry the babies without hurting them. She went back and forth a couple of times until all the babies were transported safely. “Cheeto became a mom two weeks prior and decided she wanted to host a slumber party,” Clever added. The mama ensured Mellow’s babies were safe with her as she carried them one by one and adorably tucked them in with her own litter at the end.

Mellow did not seem to bother. If not, she probably appreciated the blended family with her roommate. Clever later talked to The Star in a phone interview to share detailed accounts of her internet-famous cats. Her other cat, Moose, got Cheeto pregnant amidst the pandemic and could not be taken to the vet. “Cheeto had a really, really rough labor. She had a kitten and then went into interruptive labor and had two other kittens 26 hours later. The third kitten didn’t make it,” she told the outlet. Clever and her roommate buried the third baby while a morose Cheeto watched from the window.

Days later, Mellow was pregnant but had an easy labor. “Cheeto was very interested from the beginning. During Mellow’s labor, Cheeto was with her, helping her, assisting her,” Clever recounted. Cheeto and Mellow’s families were blended as she rested and took naps while Cheeto looked after her litter alongside hers. They grew into a close-knit family who “cuddle all the time.” She shared updates in follow-up posts. The viral clip received 3.4 million hearts and loving comments from viewers.

“Motherhood is a universal language,” marked @scarbear80 while @nathanaelpack stated, “Cats are known to share parenting if they are close, even going as far as assisting each other in birth.” However, there were similar accounts of cat affection shared by other cat owners. “My cats used to give birth together every time. They would also co-parent and take turns. They did it for 3 or 4 years in a row. It was the sweetest thing,” penned @nandsbeth
