A sweet, fluffy dog is taking people back to old-school cartoons from the 1950s. Andie, the parent of an adorable Maltipoo, has a pup that seems like a real-life Snoopy from the popular comic strip Peanuts. On her TikTok page, @andielianne, the pet owner posted a viral clip of her pup Lila enjoying her life, unaware of the internet’s obsession with her iconic appearance. It did not take long for viewers to compare Lila with a comic character and flood the comments with amusing reactions.

In the 10-second clip with 1.2 million views, Lila was captured entering a red stuffed dog house, reminiscent of Snoopy’s, as she played with a little toy hanging down from the entrance. Lila surprised people with her small, round face, black ears, and button nose as if she were real-life Snoopy. The video received 268,000 likes and hundreds of comments about the adorable pup. @_iceicekatie said, “Just casually adopts Snoopy. Okay,” and @chrisglover36 recalled, “I don’t remember Snoopy mauling Woodstock though. Was that in the earlier comics?” A fellow pet owner (@melissas1913) related, “Oh my goodness!... I have a Snoopy dog too.” Someone else (@smile19681) hoped the pet owner had actually named the pup Snoopy.

The beloved character was created by Charles M. Schulz and introduced to the Peanuts comic world on October 4, 1950. Originally, Snoopy is a simple, small beagle known for his expressions and human-like personality, per Warmies. In reality, Snoopy was based on a black and white dog named Spike that Schulz owned during his childhood. His next dog was named Snoopy upon his mother’s suggestion. Similarly, the most famous character in the comics, Charlie Brown, is based on his colleague with the same name at the Art Instruction Schools in Minneapolis, according to PBS

However, Lila is not the only one. There is a whole bunch of pets that resemble popular TV cartoon characters that made our childhood fun. A rescue dog from Africa has similarly gained widespread attention for his odd white markings and brown fur that make him look like a Disney character. Apricot, a rescue dog from Ghana, who goes by @apricotghanadog on TikTok, is seen more as a deer than a dog on the internet. People have compared the adorable pup to Bambi, noting the characteristic markings on his body that make him look like a baby deer.

Moreover, Apricot’s gentle and loving nature only adds to his Bambi-like charm. A viral clip shared by the pet owner on the page showcased the pup with his casual charm and melted thousands of hearts on the internet. The post collected 130,000 likes and comments that solidified Apricot as the new Bambi. Pets are adorable in their own right, and when they resemble some of the favorite cartoon characters from our childhood, it is hard not to obsess over the coincidence, almost as if it were planned by the pet universe.
