A woman checking her home camera after a rough night discovered something she never expected. The footage showed her experiencing a seizure in her sleep, an episode she had not been aware of until she watched it back. What surprised her even more was the way her cat responded during the emergency. She later shared the clip on TikTok on October 18, 2025, showing the exact moment her pet settled himself over her just seconds before the seizure started. The recording captured his steady, purposeful movements as he stayed close to her throughout the episode, revealing a pattern she had not noticed while it was happening.

As reported by Newsweek on Thursday, December 4, 2025, Issy said her first seizure happened in November 2024, and adjusting to this new reality often left her feeling alone. But her cat, Bobby, quickly became an unexpected support. She noticed he could sense when a major seizure was coming, often staring at her moments before it began. With time, he added other warnings, kneading, meowing, and climbing onto her, signals that helped her recognize what might be about to happen. The home camera footage confirmed this when Bobby stepped onto her right before full-body jerks started. He remained on her chest through the entire seizure, making biscuits for three minutes until she eventually woke up.

Issy mentioned in the clip that Bobby then positioned himself behind her to keep her from rolling onto her back, staying close even after the episode ended. "Seizure disorders are extremely lonely. Having Bobby by my side while I try to adjust to my new life has been so helpful and makes me feel less alone while I go through this," Issy told the outlet. Bobby does not alert her to short absence seizures or those brought on when she laughs or gets excited, but he often reacts if a larger episode is approaching. Most of her serious seizures are focal or tonic-clonic, causing shaking, stiffness, and loss of awareness. It amazes her that Bobby was never trained for any of this. She first took him in as a foster cat from the Colorado Feline Foster Rescue, but soon knew he belonged with her.

@issybellyy cats cant become service animals because theyre ‘untrainable’. mr. bob never needed to be trained - he always tries his best to protect me 🫶🏻😭🧡 #seizure #seizuresawareness #blackcats #blackcatsaregoodluck ♬ sonido original - Yeudiel

Experts still debate whether cats can reliably detect seizures, though many believe their sharp senses, especially smell and awareness of subtle behavior changes, may let them pick up shifts in the body before an episode begins, as per Catster. Issy sees that possibility reflected in Bobby’s natural responses. In her TikTok clip, the onscreen text reads, “I don't have a seizure alert dog, but I have a cat,” as Bobby climbs onto her and kneads her chest as if trying to wake her. She added that some people claim cats cannot be service animals because they are “untrainable,” yet Bobby needed no lessons. The TikTok clip posted under the handle @issybellyy received a lot of love from viewers, with many leaving heartwarming comments. @eleanorgrey21 expressed, "He is such a good boy." @aieshaslaterx shared Bobby's perspective, "Maybe if I make enough muffins, Mummy will be okay."
