A pet owner was caught by surprise when she opened her suitcase thousands of miles away from home. Leyly Ram, who goes by @leeeyly on TikTok, had to travel to Mexico for a work trip but could not take her 4-year-old Chihuahua along with her. In a viral clip with 2.9 million views, the dog mom captured her candid emotions as she unpacked her bag to find a sweet little gift from Ziggy hiding beneath her clothes. The heartwarming moment struck a chord with several viewers who took to the comments to share their reactions.

“I was calmly unpacking my suitcase at my hotel in Mexico City until…” she teased in the overlay text. Ram had her hand to her mouth, trying to control her tears as she turned the camera toward her open suitcase. She rummaged through her clothes to reveal a piece of chewed bone left by Ziggy. “I found a bone that my dog (who I am hardly ever away from) hid at the bottom of my luggage,” she added. Ram mentioned that she would fly back home in a week, but her dog’s act touched her heart. In the caption, she marked her pet as the “literal” love of her life.

The post was liked by 89,500 people, and nearly a thousand reactions flooded in the comments section. “Aw, he was ready to travel too, packed all his things,” quipped @angie_cv74 and @sofim31 noted, “So you can remember him when you’re away.” A fellow pet owner, @estrellamariacoach, advised bringing her pet the next time. “I brought Rocket all the time with me…He even had a dog walker provided by the hotel, and that was in 2013!” she revealed. Meanwhile, @diamor26 joked, “He said, ‘Here’s a little midnight snack.'” Ram is an avid traveler and usually takes her dog along on trips. Up until now, the duo has traveled across four different countries together.

In an interview with Newsweek, she said, “Given he is always with me, I was very sad to leave him, and upon my arrival to my hotel room on Sunday evening, I found a bone that he had hidden at the very bottom of my luggage.” Ram continued, explaining her sudden outburst of tears, “On account of exhaustion, jet lag, and missing him, I burst out in tears when I discovered he had left it there for me to find.” The owner had rescued Ziggy from Costa Rica when he was about 2 to 3 weeks old. She went through a difficult formal process and logistics to bring the pup back home with her to Europe.

Ever since, Ram has never traveled without him and hasn’t wanted to leave him behind, even on this occasion. However, her busy and hectic schedule on the work trip would have kept her from taking care of Ziggy. Hence, she decided it was better to leave him back at home with people she trusted.
