Woman thought her cat’s repeated hissing at a socket was silly — until the terrifying reason hiding inside the walls left her shaken

She ended by saying people should trust their kitties because they’re far more aware than we realize.

A woman recently shared a clip of her cat’s unusual behavior, repeatedly hissing at a wall socket in a way she could not explain. At first, she assumed he was “just being a cat,” brushing off the hissing and quick paw swipes as nothing serious. But as the days passed, the cat returned to the same spot with the same tense behavior, and the repeated focus became hard to ignore. What started as a light moment soon grew into genuine concern. Curious and uneasy, she finally chose to investigate what might be hidden behind the wall.

As reported by the Daily Record, the story became widely shared after a TikTok post from the account @luka_tilly_siberians showed Luka, one of two Siberian cats, hissing and pawing at the same socket for days. Viewers learned through the caption that the owners had initially taken it lightly, saying, “We laughed at first, thinking he was just being a cat, but when he repeatedly hissed at this one socket, we decided to investigate.” Once they opened the area, the truth emerged. The owners later learned that the socket contained very poorly done wiring that was extremely dangerous, which led them to have the entire house inspected, where more unsafe areas were found. An electrician later confirmed the danger, saying the wiring was some of the worst he had seen.

The video posted on Sunday, November 16, 2025, quickly went viral and reached more than 1.7 million views. The clip also sparked conversations about how unsafe wiring can cause fires and shocks. Luka’s actions led many viewers to call him a “hero,” with some sharing their own stories of pets detecting problems long before humans noticed anything wrong. @emissaryofwind commented on the possible reason behind the feline sensing the danger, "Kitties have sensitive ears; he could likely hear the buzzing/whistling of the electricity." @aliacoleman43 recounted, "My cat knew there was a fire before we did. Little man saved my entire family." @daniellelowden mentioned, "My cat was pawing at the laundry room and walking back to me, the tumble dryer had caught on fire and didn't smell a thing!" The cat mom's final message was simple but clear: “Trust your kitties, people. They are clever,” a line many felt summed up the entire experience.

@luka_tilly_siberians We laughed at first thinking he was just being a cat, but when he repeatedly hissed at this one socket we decided to investigate. Turns out there was some really badly done wiring that was extremely dangerous. It meant we got the whole house checked out and identified several dangerous bits of wiring. The electrician said it was some of the worst he had seen. Trust your kitties people. Pet felines have been known to sense danger before their humans. In another incident, a cat’s quick instincts became the only warning a sleeping family received before rising floodwaters swept through their home. In Talisay City, Cebu, Philippines, on November 4, 2025, David Paul Aguspina was fast asleep when his 4-year-old cat, Neko, knocked over a laptop, jolting him awake. Heavy rains and strong winds had been battering the city, and floodwaters were quickly creeping into their home. Neko had been staring out the window, possibly sensing the rising water, and his action drew Aguspina’s attention just in time.

Realizing the danger, he quickly woke his family, gathered essentials and their pets, and evacuated to a neighbor’s three-story house. Within minutes, the water inside their home reached ankle depth, rising rapidly, but the family managed to escape safely. Thanks to Neko’s warning, they avoided harm while floods caused widespread destruction and claimed many lives in the area. “I thank God for Neko, because he really saved my life. Who knows? Without him, I wouldn’t be alive to tell this story, and my family might have lost more because of the flood,” Auguspina said.
